We are passionate about creating the finest artisan bread on a large scale, inspired by the Italian traditional recipes of our heritage. We mostly supply the wholesale business as our production capacity allows us to supply.

Our bakery is located in the heart of London, where we use specially selected & fresh ingredients and time-honoured techniques to craft our production.

2001.

IL FORNAIO relocates its premises
to a purpose built modernized factory
located in London’s Park Royal.

Our Story

Il Fornaio Bakery was founded in London by Sebastiano Varchione, a passionate baker with a lifelong love of bread. Growing up in Italy, he was exposed to the rich traditions of authentic Italian baking from a young age. After years of honing his skills in some of the top Italian restaurants and bakeries, Sebastiano decided to bring his expertise to London, where he could share his passion for artisan breads with the local community.

2003.

IL FORNAIO increases
its presence in the food
service and baking industry.

Since 1984, we have been producing exceptional bread 24/7, using natural and fresh ingredients when possible and staying mindful of consumer allergy concerns.

2005.

IL FORNAIO becomes the first
bakery in the United Kingdom
to introduce the bar marking
machine into its production process.

Our team thrives on innovation, staying ahead of the curve with emerging food trends and consumer preferences. Our NPD team collaborates closely with clients to develop new and exciting concepts, and our rapid sample turnaround enables swift product launches.

2006.

Venturing into new avenues of the market,
stretching further into the UK’s food service
and baking industry. Allowing IL FORNAIO
to meet its annual turnover target.

Our diverse client portfolio includes prominent companies serving various sectors of the market, including travel, food service, and sandwich manufacturing.

2009.

IL FORNAIO celebrates its 25th Birthday.

We offer a range of baked goods, including ambient, frozen, and part-baked, ensuring the consistent supply of high-quality bread.

2016.

Expansion and adjoining of our new
premises combining units 5 and 7

2020.

IL FORNAIO’s silo acquisition upgrades
our facility requiring less ground space,
greater control over storage conditions
and convenience of loading and depositing.
